Machine Shop Estimating™

Material

Machine Shop Estimating™ for Windows provides an efficient and comprehensive method for calculating all your material information. MSE's ability to simultaneously quote up to seven different quantities offers an excellent example of how computer aided estimating accelerates the estimating process. Simply select from one of the over 1150 different materials and 22 different stock shapes.

Example: the calculations for a piece part made from bar stock would include total pounds, feet and number of bars required, and include calculations for bar ends, facing stock, cutoff width, and scrap or extra material.

Material Cost Library

Material pricing is kept in the Material Cost Library. During the material calculation process, current pricing information is pulled from this library, as are the vendors and the date the price was entered.

The library supports all standard pricing formats, as well as minimum, shipping and vendor cut charges. A flexible alpha-numeric stock code feature allows for stock identification numbers, which coordinate material type, shape, and  geometric features.

Weight Calculator

Calculate part weights quickly and easily. Simply describe the part in terms of geometric shapes; calculated weights have proven accuracy to four decimal places.

Routing

Routings (Travelers) are generated by selecting from the list of available Work Centers.  Cycle Time Calculations, Tooling,   Direct Buys  (Outside operations), and Direct Labor inputs are all initiated through the Routing Screen.

Databases

After  your routing selections have been made, unlike other systems, with MSE you no longer spend time individually verifying and accepting each machine or material-specific specification.

Individual machine databases which are customized by the user, reflect information  that includes manual and rapid movements, horsepower, RPM, maximum cutting rates, and load/unload time, to name just a few.

Instead of hitting the enter key to accept information you already know is correct, MSE presents all this information on your electronic estimate form. If necessary you can change any of the data, but now you use 2-3 mouse clicks, rather than the 20 or 30 keystrokes required in other estimating packages.

Using minimum input, MSE does the work and provides the graphical analysis tools needed to help you select the correct machine for the best results. Micro Estimating's "smart tools" and other time saving features change the estimating process from that "same old drudgery" to a "new efficiency level." Our tool-selection and macro approach to estimating lets you concentrate on processing and productivity.
